13 ORMEAU LEGAL & HILTON HARTLEY LAWYERS Two different names one great team Ormeau Legal is located in Peachey Road and has been operating in Ormeau for over 11 years. Tanya Williams is our Principal Solicitor who has been practising law for over 17 years. Tanya commenced her legal career as a Legal Officer with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Beenleigh and Southport. During her career with the ODPP she appeared on sentences and breach hearings in the District Court of Queensland. Tanya then completed the Bar practice course and was admitted as a Barrister. During her time as a Barrister Tanya appeared on District Court sentences and appeared regularly in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia on Family law matters. Tanya then decided to return practising as a Solicitor and opened Ormeau Legal in 2012. During this time Tanya has acted for clients in relation to a variety of matters including Family law matters, Criminal and Traffic matters amongst other areas of law including Civil litigation and Wills and Estates. The firm started off small with just Tanya and a para-legal and has since grown to include a fulltime Conveyancer, para-legal and Solicitor. Tanya’s focus is on delivering practical legal advice at a reasonable cost to clients. In 2018 Tanya decided to open Hilton Hartley lawyers located at Pimpama City. The name is derived from her grandmother’s family names. Her grandmother recently turned 100 years of age and it was important to Tanya to preserve those names for future generations. Tanya’s daughter Olivia Roeszler was admitted as a Solicitor earlier this year and her son Daniel Roeszler is due to be admitted as a Solicitor in early 2024. Tanya’s team is comprised of Chantal Hill who is a Senior Associate and practices predominantly in the area of Family Law and Department of Child Safety matters. Chantal is passionate about family law and is a strong advocate for her clients. Olivia Roeszler is our newly admitted Solicitor although she is not new to law, having been employed at Ormeau Legal for 10 years as a para-legal. Olivia practices predominantly in the area of Wills and Estates and Family Law. Olivia is extremely approachable and has been described as being friendly and highly efficient. Thomas Stubbings is our criminal lawyer who is happiest when he is wading through briefs of evidence and making submissions to Police Prosecutions in an attempt to have his client’s charges withdrawn or reduced. Tom appears almost daily in the Magistrates and District Courts of Queensland and has proven to be a worthy advocate having been successful in having charges completely withdrawn or reduced significantly for his clients. Renee Dormer has been admitted as a Solicitor for over 10 years and practices across a number of areas of law. Renee has completed her Family Dispute Resolution training to practice as an accredited mediator and is also undertaking her Master of Laws (Applied Law) majoring in Family Dispute Resolution Practice. Renee is local to the area and is known for her friendly and approachable personality. Sharyn Polzin is our full-time conveyancer. Sharyn has over 30 years’ experience in conveyancing and if there is something Sharyn doesn’t know, then it probably isn’t worth knowing. Sharyn works closely with a number of buyers agents and has formed excellent working relationships with clients which is evident in the number of repeat clients we see at Ormeau Legal. Daniel Roeszler is completing his law degree and is due to be admitted as a Solicitor in early 2024. Daniel currently assists our team on legal matters ranging from Family, Criminal, Traffic, Civil and conveyancing files. Daniel is the first point of contact at Ormeau Legal and our clients describe Daniel as friendly and extremely helpful. See advert front cover $50 GIFT CARD SUDOKU: V. Colwell, Nerang CROSSWORD: J. DARKNESS RUNS DEEP By Claire McNeel In the darkest hour, a blood-soaked teenager flees the rural Gerandaroo football oval. Eight months later, Bess, a young teacher, returns home to Gerandaroo. A childhood game of dare with her former best friend forces Bess to form a women’s footy team to play against Denby, a rival town. Bess reluctantly recruits players, but the team has to contend with hostile locals - including Bess’s own father. Will this help the small community to come back together - or will it be the final thing that blows everything apart? As tensions in the town boil over, so too do resentments and secrets and violence that have been previously held tight and close. Fiercely told and breathlessly compelling, Darkness Runs Deep is a striking new Australian crime novel about the best and worst of who we are.
