WIN A DOUBLE PASS Saturday 10 January @ 8.00PM The Star Casino, Broadbeach There are only a couple of handfuls of truly iconic, established Australian artists still working the music scene. Still “treading the boards” as the old folks would say. There’s even a smaller number that aren’t Tribute Acts – not that there’s anything wrong with quality, dedicated performers wanting to keep their favourite music alive. Almost as scarce as a week with three Thursdays, is an Artist who could easily trade off their past fame but pushes boundaries and expectations through to record yet another astonishing album of brandnew music. Rick Price is that particular Aussie guy. He’s recognised as one of our most unique singer-songwriters and “talent-burdened” instrumentalists. Yet get this, he has built-in humility which is astonishing in this sometimes-cutthroat industry! In a recent Morning Melodies performance at the Twin Towns Showroom, Rick, complete with a team Reviewed by 101FM Radio Presenter Stu Robertson www.101fm.com.au | Photography by Michelle Cop (MC Photography) Rick Price 30th September 2025 Twin Towns Music Review PRINCESS THEATRE BRISBANE Friday 9th January THE STAR GOLD COAST DANCING IN THE SHADOWS OF The Sound Of Young America & The Soul Of Modern Music INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED 10 PIECE SUPERBAND! A GREAT XMAS GIFT!! of absolutely no-one, held court. Solo. Alright, what he did have accompanying him was a pocketful of life experiences, songs, an acoustic guitar and the usual Twin Towns white grand piano to one side. By the way, when he is referred to elsewhere as a multi-instrumentalist, it’s really a case of what doesn’t he play. Because vocals, guitar, piano, bass, drums, keyboards, harmonica, ukulele are all accounted for. (No mention of a Zither or Aeolian Harp) Rick is a native of Beaudesert and a resident of Tennessee. Both are beautiful areas. His roots are clearly in the physically wide country areas, as was in his parents’ and grandparents’ day. That alone has produced captivating stories of his youth, playing music in old CWA and School of Arts buildings so loving familiar when driving through country towns. His yarns about his grandfather’s wooden bridge building years and his mother’s sacred sewing room wrapped each song with a sentiment which made me put my coffee cup down and reflect. Must have been dust in my eye. Not sure, but it needed wiping. Was there a stream of people impressed enough to buy the vinyl or CDs afterwards and wait for a chat and a selfie? Absolutely, clearly it was a River of Love. Thank you, Rick!
