Horoscopes March 2026 A COMMUNITY HELPING SENIORS THRIVE IN A DIGITAL WORLD 28 Years of Connection and Confidence Since 1997, Seniors on the Net (SOTN) has been helping older adults stay connected, confident and safe online. Founded on the spirit of “Seniors helping seniors,” SOTN began as a small volunteer-led initiative and has grown into a valued Gold Coast community organisation where people come together to share digital skills and friendship. Over the years, SOTN has supported thousands of local seniors in navigating an ever-changing digital landscape through one-on-one, personalised lessons that allow members to progress at their own pace. From sending emails and managing photos to using laptops, tablets, smartphones, social media and online services, members gain practical skills in a patient and supportive environment. More importantly, they gain confidence. Lessons are delivered at a very affordable fee, ensuring digital learning remains accessible to all seniors in the community. As technology continues to evolve, so too does SOTN. In 2025, the organisation expanded its activities by introducing small group lessons and practical workshops focused on digital confidence and online safety. During Get Online Week 2025, SOTN hosted a free “Safety Online & Fun Tech” community event attended by over 50 participants, supported by the Be Connected program. Seniors learned how to recognise scams, avoid phishing emails and explore useful digital tools that enrich everyday life. The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback and reinforced SOTN’s role as a trusted digital learning hub for older Australians. Be Part of the Community What makes SOTN special is not just the technology, it is the people. All activities are run entirely by volunteers, from tutors and receptionists to committee members, who create a welcoming and supportive learning environment. Volunteers help ensure seniors feel comfortable asking questions, building skills and staying independent in a digital world. As SOTN continues to grow, the organisation is now inviting new volunteers to join its team as Receptionists and Tutors. Volunteers do not need to be technology experts. Anyone confident using everyday devices and willing to support others can make a meaningful difference. Training and guidance are provided, and every contribution helps strengthen this long-standing community organisation. Will you join this growing community?
