Transforming the Outdoor Stage into an intimate new theatre venue, Winter Season brings some of the most exciting theatre, comedy and contemporary performance touring the nation directly to the Gold Coast – and places audiences closer to the action than ever before. Across a curated program of eight standout works, Winter Season invites audiences to immerse themselves in the energy and excitement of live performance. Audiences can return to HOTA throughout the winter months and enjoy a diverse mix of performances spanning dynamic storytelling, mind-blowing visual theatre, life-affirming comedy and cabaret, riotous gigtheatre, and moving original music. The Winter Season is designed to bring fresh experiences to the Gold Coast, giving locals the chance to see nationally touring productions. It’s also the perfect opportunity to gather friends, enjoy dinner or drinks before a show, and make a night of it at HOTA. Tickets for individual performances and season information are available through the HOTA website, with early booking recommended as the intimate theatre setting means seats are limited. Hundreds of artworks will be available for purchase throughout the event, giving visitors the opportunity to support working Australian artists directly and perhaps discover the next major name in contemporary representational art. This year’s judging panel is expected to once again bring together respected voices from the Australian arts sector, continuing the award’s reputation for credibility and artistic integrity. For many visitors, however, the real appeal lies beyond the prizes. The exhibition has become a celebration of artistic craftsmanship, storytelling and community spirit — all set against the backdrop of the historic Gold Coast hinterland village of Mudgeeraba. At a time when regional arts events are increasingly important to Australia’s cultural identity, The Doyles stands as a reminder that world-class artistic experiences do not belong solely to capital cities. Sometimes, they happen in small villages powered by volunteers, passion and a deep belief in the value of art.
