6 Runaway Bay lions Club is the proud sponsor of Story Dogs team “Meschelle and Zena” helping children at Biggera Waters State School develop their reading skills. Dogs make reading FUN! Story Dogs is a reading support program where selected children read to an accredited dog and its handler. Reading takes place in a quiet area of the school such as the library or verandah outside the classroom. Sessions run for 20 minutes, where each child is one-on-one with the Dog Team. The books used in the program are suitable for each child’s reading level, are engaging and inspire children to read for enjoyment and knowledge. Over the last 50 years Runaway Bay Lions has raised over a million dollars and completed many major projects on the Gold Coast. We have supported the local community – including schools, community groups, people with disabilities and local charities. We also help those in need, in Australia and overseas when disaster strikes. Prepping Your Property for a Picture-Perfect Sale Runaway Bay Lions News Story Dogs team Meschelle and ‘Zena’ (Dog breed groodle) First impressions are everything, especially when it comes to selling your home. In today’s competitive real estate market, capturing the attention of potential buyers requires more than just a well-worded listing. It’s about presenting your property in its best light, and that starts with stunning photographs that showcase its full potential. Joe Farr, a seasoned real estate agent with over two decades of experience at Farr Real Estate selling Gold Coast homes, shares invaluable insights on how to get your property ready for a photo shoot that will leave buyers eager to see more. “Photographs are often the first point of contact between a buyer and your property,” says Joe Farr. “They set the tone for the entire viewing experience, so it’s crucial to make sure your home looks its absolute best.” One of the first steps in preparing for a photo shoot is decluttering and depersonalising your space. Remove any personal items such as family photos and knick-knacks, as they can distract potential buyers from envisioning themselves in the home. “You want to create a blank canvas that allows buyers to imagine their own life in the space,” advises Joe. Next, focus on cleaning and organising each room. Pay special attention to high-traffic areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms, ensuring that countertops are clear, surfaces are gleaming, and clutter is kept to a minimum. “A clean, tidy home not only looks more appealing in photographs but also gives the impression that it has been well-maintained,” In addition to cleaning, consider making small cosmetic updates to enhance the overall appearance of your property. This could include freshening up paint, replacing outdated curtains, or adding strategic touches of staging to highlight the home’s best features. “Simple changes can have a big impact on how your home is perceived by buyers,” says Joe. “It’s about creating a sense of warmth and welcoming that invites people in.” When it comes to staging your home for photographs, less is often more. Focus on highlighting the key selling points of each room, such as architectural details, natural light, and views. “You want to create a sense of flow that allows potential buyers to envision themselves living in the space,” explains Joe. “Avoid overcrowding rooms with furniture and decor, as this can make them appear smaller and less inviting.” Finally, don’t forget about street appeal. The exterior of your home is the first thing buyers will see, so it’s important to make a good impression from the moment they arrive. “Investing in landscaping, painting the front door, and ensuring that the exterior is well-maintained can go a long way in attracting buyers,” advises Farr. By following these expert tips from Joe Farr, you can ensure that your property is photo-ready and poised to make a great first impression on potential buyers. With a little preparation and attention to detail, you can set the stage for a successful sale that exceeds your expectations.
