2 FAMILY LAW SUPPORT: How Aylward Game Solicitors Assists Queensland Families Navigate Change Separation is a challenging and emotional time. However, with the right legal strategy, conflict, costs, and delays can be significantly minimised. At Aylward Game Solicitors, our experienced family law team is dedicated to supporting families across Queensland with practical, child-focused solutions under the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth). We are committed to implementing the 2024 reforms, which prioritise safety and the best interests of children. How Aylward Game Solicitors Can Assist: Early Strategy and Risk Assessment - We adopt a proactive approach to identify and address safety concerns, including coercive control and technology-facilitated abuse. Our team works to secure interim arrangements and coordinate with Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) orders where required, ensuring the safety and protection of all parties involved. Parenting Arrangements - We specialise in developing tailored parenting arrangements, including age-appropriate routines, school holiday schedules, and communication protocols. Dispute Resolution First - Our priority is to resolve disputes amicably and efficiently outside of court. We prepare and represent clients at Family Dispute Resolution and mediation, employing child-inclusive practices where appropriate. This approach ensures that most matters are resolved without the need for litigation. Property and Parenting Alignment - Recognising the intersection between housing, financial stability, and care arrangements, we design solutions such as staged buyouts, interim occupancy agreements, and time-sharing schedules that minimise disruption and provide stability for families. Evidence and Procedure - We assist in gathering and presenting reliable evidence, including digital communications, app data, and location information. Our team also briefs experts and Independent Children’s Lawyers to ensure concise and credible material is presented to the Court. Enforceable Orders - We draft clear and enforceable parenting orders and consent orders, providing post-order support to ensure compliance and adapt to changing circumstances. Our focus is on creating practical and sustainable solutions for families. Outcome-Oriented Solutions - Our ultimate goal is to achieve safety, stability, and workable routines tailored to your family’s unique circumstances. We are committed to guiding you through this process with professionalism, compassion, and expertise. Start the year right and make an appointment to see the friendly staff at Paris-Miki Helensvale for all your eye and glasses needs. Book your appointment today! As we welcome a brand-new year, many of us feel that familiar urge to reset, refresh and refocus. It’s also the time when most private health funds roll over, quietly topping up those valuable extras we often forget to use—especially when it comes to eye health. For many Australians, optical benefits sit untouched until the end-ofyear scramble. But with a fresh allotment now available, January is the ideal moment to prioritise your vision and make the most of what your health fund offers. Regular eye examinations do far more than update your glasses prescription; they can detect early signs of glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and even underlying health issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure. In other words, visiting your optometrist is one of the simplest ways to safeguard your wellbeing. Start 2026 with eyes wide open, and make the most of the benefits already waiting for you And let’s not forget the fun part—new glasses. Whether you prefer timeless classics, lightweight frames, bold colours or something modern and minimal, today’s eyewear offers more comfort and style than ever before. If you’ve been putting off updating scratched lenses, stretched frames or ageing prescriptions, your refreshed extras provide the perfect incentive. Many health funds cover a significant portion of prescription lenses, frames, prescription sunglasses and even contact lenses, depending on your level of cover. Using your benefits early in the year also means you’ll have time to return for adjustments or explore a second pair if your fund allows it. Paris Miki Optical’s Store Manager Michael has over 32 year’s experience as a qualified Optical technician and has been working in the area for over 24 years. There is an onsite workshop for quicker spectacle making, so you don’t have to be without your own frames for weeks if we are using your own frame for new lenses; repairs can be done onsite and same day service is available on in store stock lenses. So as you map out your goals for the year ahead—more travel, better health, new hobbies— be sure to add “book an eye test” to the list. It’s a small task with a big payoff: clearer vision, improved comfort, and peace of mind.

Six tips to increase the returns of your rental property Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you probably already know there is a shortage of rentals on the northern Gold Coast at the moment and that many tenants are struggling to find a home to live in. Even though prices are rising, there’s always an opportunity in any market to improve the rental returns of your property, as well as attracting better quality tenants who stay longer. The team at Farr Real Estate have over 20 years of experience in the local market and have six hot tips to help you get more from your rental. 1 - Online Appeal. Most likely a potential tenant’s first impression of a property will be the online advertising. It’s crucial that the property stands out. Make sure the property is neat and tidy, freshen up the paint, mow the lawns and trim the gardens. Consider staging the property with some nice simple furniture before photographing, or talk to us about “virtual staging” for a cheaper option. 2 - Add covered off street parking. A tenant’s most valuable asset will usually be their cars, so the more covered parking you can provide, the better. If space and council allows, add extra garaging or carports. 3 - Freshen up the wet areas. Sometimes a little work in old kitchens and bathrooms goes a long way. Updated cupboard handles and new benchtops are an easy way to modernise a kitchen, and re-grouting bathroom tiles can really freshen up a dated space. If space allows, add a dishwasher to the kitchen too. 4 - Add an air conditioner. Gold Coast is hot, so an air conditioner really is a non-negotiable. But it’s incredible how many homes don’t have them! Rarely will a tenant stick around after a long, hot summer if you haven’t invested in a quality A/C. So if you want a good tenant to stay for a few years, this one is a must. 5 - Make the property pet friendly. For some people, their pets are their kids. And they’ll pay a premium to be able to live with their furry friends. Consider replacing carpets with tiles, add a doggy door and ensure yards are fully fenced to make your property stand out with dog and cat owners. 6 - Get the marketing and management right. Rentals should be treated the same as sales. To get top dollar, you need top marketing + a skilled negotiating agent. Professional photos are a must, and video or 360 degree tours are even better. Upgraded listings on the big websites and social media promotion will ensure more people see the property, which translates to more inspections and more applications. This gives you a bigger pool of quality tenants to choose from, increasing the chance of finding a great long term tenant who will look after your property and pay the premium price. We’re always looking for more rental properties for their prospective tenants. If you’re purchasing a rental property soon, or already own one and would like to explore new management, call the Farr Real Estate team on (07) 5500 7000. see advert front cover

This means that people aged between 45 and 74 can now participate in the national program: • 45-49 year olds can join the program by requesting their first bowel screening test kit. • 50-74 year olds will continue to receive a bowel screening test kit in the mail, when they are due to screen. Bowel cancer is one of the most treatable cancers when it is found early. However many bowel cancers display no symptoms, especially during the early stages of disease progression. This is why bowel screening is important - the free test kits can help find early changes in the bowel, sometimes years before cancer develops or symptoms appear. If you have previously received a bowel screening test kit through the program but did not use it, you can request a free replacement. Free initial or replacement test kits can be requested by filling out a webform at ncsr.gov.au/ boweltest or by phoning 1800 627 701. The test kits are sent to the postal address registered with Medicare or DVA, so it is important to keep this address up to date.

MarblecoteTM is completely seamless (there are no joins). A brand new factory made ‘stone’ or laminated benchtop will have joins sometimes only one or two, often three or four. Does this difference really matter? Well, yes, it does, especially if you want your benchtop to be hygienically superior. A quick question... how many bacteria can fit on a pinhead? Answer... (fun fact) six million. Bacteria includes e-coli, salmonella, Covid and many more. The second most popular place for bacteria to dwell and thrive in the home - after doorknobs - is the kitchen benchtop. And no matter how tight those joins appear to be, KITCHEN MAKEOVER MAGIC Introducing MarblecoteTM – Your Durable, Handcrafted Benchtop Solution BEFORE AFTER to bacteria they are like the Grand Canyon... party central! MarblecoteTM is stain, heat and scratch resistant. Whilst very resilient (finished with three coats acrylic cross-linking polymer), it is not bulletproof. So if someone drops a brick on it (yes, we’ve had that happen!) damage will occur. Unlike other benchtops, damage like that can be repaired in around one hour and the repair won’t be visible. MarblecoteTM is handcrafted so that each benchtop is unique and there’s a three year warranty. Once warranty expires...we also offer a ‘re-fresh’ (light sand plus 2 coats benchtop clear $200) which includes extended warranty for a further three years Cost comparison - the MarblecoteTM System is one quarter to one fifth the cost of a new replacement bench. A global phenomenon born at the Edinburgh Fringe and enjoyed in major cities around the world, La Clique has earned a cult following for its distinctive blend of provocative cabaret, breathtaking physical feats, and world-class variety performance. The show’s return in March 2026 promises an all-new lineup of artists alongside signature favourites, bringing back the risqué atmosphere, glamour, and boundary-pushing artistry that captivated audiences last year. “La Clique was a runaway success at HOTA in 2025, and audience demand for its return was immediate. We’re thrilled to welcome this worldclass production back to the Gold Coast for another season of bold and unforgettable spectacle,” Experience Gold Coast, Head of Arts and Culture, Yarmila Alfonzetti said. Featuring a rotating cast of international stars and underground icons, the 2026 season will once again transform HOTA into a realm of wonder where guests can expect impossible acrobatics, seductive cabaret, laugh-out-loud comedy, and a soundtrack that electrifies the room. Whether you’re returning for more or discovering La Clique for the first time, this limited 2026 season is set to be a highlight of the Gold Coast’s events calendar.
