4 Toot Toot. Blowing One’s Own Horn It has been over a year since I have been in touch with those of you who read/read my column. I had been writing the column for several years and wondered if anyone actually read it. Well, it seems some do, and I have been humbled by the people I’ve met who noticed my column went missing. Since then, my family has grown again with an addition of another gorgeous granddaughter, we have moved house and built a granny flat. We are currently living in the flat so one of my daughters and her family of seven can stay in the main house whilst they are in between buying and selling. The challenges of building and renovating in this market has been eye-opening and I certainly understand why so many builders have gone under, as prices of materials and labour have increased. We have had huge weather issues in our community. My family was impacted but we are all safe; so many people in the local community have lost their homes and sadly some lives were lost. My heart goes out to those who were affected by the storms and the unprecedented rain event. There is such a huge clean up to be done and I was SO appreciative of the team at ENERGEX who worked tirelessly to restore power. The SES was also amazing in their continued assistance to those in need. Sadly, not everyone who needed help was reached. Community spirit was high with neighbour helping neighbour and offers of help from strangers given freely. I have never been good at advertising my success and sadly because of that some friends or previous clients even thought I had retired. But apparently, it is quite acceptable to blow your own horn so, here I go! This year the market has been unusual, buyers have changed the way they make enquiries, but I have had a successful year with many homes that I have sold attaining street records. Below are the recent street records, some have settled and some due to settle this month: • White City Drive Oxenford $1,290,000 • Podinga Circuit Ormeau $1,210,000 • Stuckey Close Willow Vale $3,400,000 • Fern Hill Drive Willow Vale $3,700,000 • Blacks Road Willow Vale $4,200,000 Some of these properties sold quickly; others were on the market for some months, one didn’t make it to the open market. The most important thing was the vendors trusted me to work with them to achieve the best result possible. Are you considering a change this year? Have you outgrown your home or need to downsize? If you would like advice, I’m always happy to give it and in the meantime, take this HUGE SMILE from me: It’s FREE!!!
