2 Thinking About Moving In or Getting Married? A Binding Financial Agreement (commonly called a “prenup”) isn’t about mistrust, it’s about clarity. The discussion surrounding a ‘pre-nup’ is often a difficult one to have particularly when you have just met someone and you have decided to move in together. The decision to formally record how your assets are divided should you separate in the future, it not an emotional decision it is a commercial decision. It is a decision made by two people who want to have certainty should they separate in the future. Under the Family Law Act 1975, couples can formalise how assets, liabilities and financial resources will be dealt with if the relationship breaks down. Done properly, it can: • Protect assets you’ve accumulated prior to the relationship • Safeguard family inheritances • Provide certainty for business interests • Reduce the risk of costly litigation later Life changes. Planning ahead simply ensures that both parties understand their financial position from the outset. If you’d like to discuss whether a Binding Financial Agreement is right for you, contact our office on 5540 7198. 4 The Rotary Club Of Ormeau-Pimpama gives back to the community - In a big way Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama Since its charter in 2019, The Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama has set an ambitious agenda-and delivered remarkable results for the local community. In just a few short years, the club has donated a huge sum of $250,000 in support to the local community. These have included, vehicles, assistance packages, and a wide range of community grants- designed to provide practical help, where it is needed most. Club President Russell Mowles said “raising such a significant amount of money was no small achievement. It requires dedication, teamwork, and a strong commitment from the club’s volunteer members, as well as the invaluable support of sponsors and local businesses.” The achievement reflects the spirit of the area; it is a demonstration of community minded people supporting their community,” said President Mowles also praising the local business owners for their ongoing support to the clubs and initiatives, acknowledging that their generosity played a vital role in making these contributions possible. Mr Mowles encouraged anyone interested in giving back to the community or simply wanting to experience the positive energy of The Rotary Club of OrmeauPimpama, “to come along to one of our meetings and experience the vibe.” The club is also championing the cause for a new PCYC to be built in Pimpama and is working in conjunction with The State Member for Coomera, Michael Crandon and Division One Councillor and Deputy Mayor Mark Hammel to facilitate this much needed asset. The club continues to welcome new members, sponsors and supporters who share a passion for making a tangible difference to our local community. “This is an extraordinary achievement by The Rotary Club of Ormeau- Pimpama. To raise $250,000 in just five years speaks volumes about the commitment, generosity, and drive of the group,” said Cr Hammel. “Behind the quarter of a million dollars are countless volunteer hours, early mornings, late nights, and people giving up their time simply because they care about the community. It is a significant milestone and one the entire community should be proud of. I thank every Rotarian and volunteer who has contributed to this remarkable event – our community is a better place because of you, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside the club to deliver even more for the Northern Gold Coast.” The Rotary Club of OrmeauPimpama meets on the first Tuesday of each month for a business meeting followed by a dinner meeting- generally with a guest speaker, or a fun night on the Third Tuesday of the month. Big Laughs, Big Names: GC Laughs Festival Returns to HOTA in 2026 The Gold Coast’s comedy scene is set to erupt in laughter this March as the much-loved GC Laughs Festival returns to HOTA, Home of the Arts from 13–22 March 2026. Now firmly established as the region’s premier comedy event, the ten-day festival promises a packed program of stand-up, storytelling and side-splitting entertainment featuring some of Australia’s biggest comic talents alongside rising stars and international acts. Billed as the Gold Coast’s largest celebration of comedy, GC Laughs brings together household names and fresh voices for a diverse lineup designed to appeal to all tastes — from observational wit to absurdist humour and everything in between. The festival atmosphere is vibrant and inclusive, turning HOTA’s theatres and venues into a hub of shared laughter and live performance energy. Among the 2026 lineup are acclaimed comedians including Lizzy Hoo, Luke Heggie, Zoë Coombs Marr, Dave Thornton and Dane Simpson, with many more acts rounding out a strong national and international program. The result is an impressive showcase that reflects both the strength of Australia’s comedy scene and the festival’s growing reputation on the touring circuit. Opening night traditionally centres on the GC Laughs Gala — a flagship two-hour showcase featuring a curated selection of the festival’s funniest performers and surprise moments. Often dubbed the biggest night of comedy on the Coast, the gala sets the tone for the days that follow, as audiences spill out across multiple shows and venues eager for more laughs. Beyond the jokes, GC Laughs also highlights the cultural importance of live comedy in the region. Festivals like this create opportunities for audiences to connect, unwind and share collective experiences — something increasingly valuable in a fast-paced, digitally saturated world. They also support the creative economy, drawing visitors to the Gold Coast and reinforcing HOTA’s status as a leading arts precinct. For ten days in March, the Gold Coast will once again echo with applause and laughter, proving that when great comedians and eager audiences come together, the result is nothing short of joyful. 5 Choosing the right glasses Eyeglasses are more than just a visioncorrection tool—they are an essential part of your personal style, daily comfort, and even confidence. With countless styles, shapes, and materials available, choosing the right pair can be overwhelming. Here’s what to consider when selecting your perfect frames. Face Shape and Frame Style One of the first things to consider is your face shape. Different frames complement different facial structures. Round faces benefit from angular frames that add definition, while square faces pair well with round or oval frames to soften sharp features. Oval faces have the versatility to pull off nearly any style, whereas heart-shaped faces look great with frames that are wider at the bottom to balance proportions. Material Matters Eyeglass frames come in a variety of materials, each with unique advantages. Metal frames, such as titanium or stainless steel, are durable, lightweight, and often hypoallergenic. Plastic frames, including acetate, offer a broader range of colors and styles but can be heavier. For those with active lifestyles, flexible materials like memory metal are a great option, as they withstand bending and impact. Comfort and Fit An ill-fitting pair of glasses can lead to discomfort, constant adjustments, and even headaches. Look for frames that rest comfortably on your nose without pinching. The temples should sit securely without pressing behind your ears. If they frequently slip, adjustable nose pads or temple grips can help improve the fit. BRETT REDDELL “Brett Reddell: Raising the Bar in Ormeau Hills Real Estate When you think about property success in Ormeau Hills, one name is rapidly becoming synonymous with results, relationships, and razor-sharp instincts — Brett Reddell. In a market where trends shift faster than you can refresh a spreadsheet, Brett has carved out a reputation not because he talks a big game — but because he wins where it counts. From first-time sellers unsure of where to begin, to astute investors looking to cash in on Southeast Queensland’s regional boom, Brett has become the go-to agent for people who want more than a sale — they want a strategy. Local Roots. Big Vision. Ormeau Hills isn’t just a postcode for Brett — it’s home turf. He knows its streets, its character, and what makes buyers tick here. But what sets Brett apart isn’t just local knowledge; it’s how he pairs that insight with forwardthinking marketing and negotiation. In a suburb where lifestyle is the currency — space, sunshine, and future growth potential — Brett has helped position Ormeau Hills as one of the region’s most desirable pockets. He doesn’t just facilitate transactions — he elevates property value by telling the story of each home in a way that resonates with today’s buyers. More Than Metrics — People First Sure, the numbers are impressive. Brett consistently outperforms market averages, achieves strong selling prices, and has built a portfolio of client success stories that reads like a local success map. But talk to any of his clients and you’ll hear the same theme: “It wasn’t about a sale — it was about being heard, understood, and guided with confidence.” That’s Brett’s signature move. He doesn’t just list homes — he partners with people through what is often one of the most emotional decisions of their lives. Innovation Meets Integrity In an industry too often stuck in the past, Brett brings a fresh playbook. Digital storytelling, strategic staging, tailored pricing insights, and transparent communication — he leverages tools and tech without losing the personal touch that matters most. Buyers and sellers alike appreciate his balance of hustle and honesty. He moves fast when the market demands it, and he slows down when diligence is the real advantage. Looking Ahead As Ormeau Hills continues to grow — with families, professionals, and investors discovering its appeal — Brett Reddell is positioned not just as a local expert, but as a community architect of value. Whether it’s maximizing return for a seller, finding the perfect first home for a young couple, or advising investors on where the next opportunity lies, Brett’s impact on the Ormeau Hills property scene is unmistakable — and just getting started.” For media enquiries or property consultations, contact Brett Reddell on 0498642464. see advert front cover

A woman in Galway hears of the death of her son in the First World War. An Irishman seeks anonymity in Barcelona, haunted by crimes he has committed. A man goes to Dublin from Enniscorthy to implore the Minister for Health for a special favour. A young woman is pregnant during the Spanish Civil War. An undocumented worker finds himself living an illegal life and must leave San Francisco, and his child, after thirty years in America. Three sisters who have been living in Argentina decide to return to Catalonia. ‘Tóibín is the consummate cartographer of the private self, summoning with restrained acuity (and a delicious streak of sly humour) the thoughts his characters struggle to find words for’ – Clare Clark, Guardian ISBN 9781035030736 From 30 March to 1 April 2026, the Gold Coast once again turns a page in its cultural story as Storyfest brings together authors, illustrators, students and readers for three days of literary celebration at Somerset College, Mudgeeraba. Now in its fourth decade, this much-loved festival has grown into Australia’s largest children’s literature event, yet its heart remains wonderfully simple: connecting people through the power of stories. Across classrooms, halls and outdoor spaces at Somerset College, more than 30 acclaimed authors, illustrators and artists will share their craft with curious young minds and devoted readers alike. Interactive sessions, book signings and workshops offer students the rare chance to meet the creators behind the pages they treasure — a moment that can ignite a lifelong love of reading and creativity. But Storyfest is not only for schools. Signature public events such as the free Prologue Party, Literary Lunch and the elegant Long Table dinner invite the wider community to celebrate literature in all its forms. Families can wander through a festive fairground atmosphere, adults can engage in thoughtful conversations with authors, and aspiring writers can test their skills in lively challenges and games. As the Gold Coast continues to grow as a cultural destination, Storyfest remains one of its most meaningful annual gatherings. Whether you are eight or eighty, it offers something rare: the chance to slow down, listen and rediscover the simple magic of a good story well told.
