2 The Rotary Club of OrmeauPimpama recently had the privilege of visiting Making Strides, a specialist rehabilitation centre supporting individuals living with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions. Based right here in Ormeau, the centre offers tailored, evidencebased programs that focus on helping clients regain strength, function and independence no matter their level of injury or time since diagnosis. Making Strides is not a traditional gym it’s a purpose-built facility run by a highly experienced team of physiotherapists, exercise scientists and support staff, all working with one clear goal: to help people move forward. Through state-ofthe-art equipment, client-focused support, and a team who believe in possibility, Making Strides is empowering people to take control of their own rehabilitation journey. OUR VISIT Our members were warmly welcomed by Jim Barrett, Director at Making Strides, who gave us a detailed tour and insight into the programs, the technology, and most importantly the people behind the scenes. We were inspired by their commitment to long-term outcomes and their belief that Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama Making Strides in Ormeau: A Rotary Club Visit to Remember recovery is about more than the physical—it's about rebuilding confidence and community connection as well. OUR COMMITMENT As part of our club’s ongoing efforts to engage with impactful local organisations, we’re exploring how we can support Making Strides through potential partnerships, grants, and awareness. Their work aligns closely with our Rotary values of Service Above Self, and it was a powerful reminder of the important work being done right here in our own backyard.
